About The Illinois State Water Survey

Illinois Water Supply Planning

Rock River Region

Regional water supply planning in the Rock River Region is focused on flow in the Rock and Green Rivers, the impact of groundwater withdrawals from Cambrian-Ordovician sandstone, shallow bedrock, and sand and gravel aquifers, and the potential for contamination in shallow groundwater systems that could adversely impact water supply. This region includes the following eleven counties: Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Winnebago, Boone, Carroll, Ogle, Whiteside, Lee, Rock Island, Henry, and Bureau.

Interactive Maps

Interactive maps specific to this region will become available as the water supply planning process progresses. Statewide maps with information related to groundwater demands can be found here.
