The Illinois State Water Survey operates two observation well networks (WARM and ICN) to collect data on shallow groundwater levels across the state. The observation wells typically are located in areas remote from pumping so only natural fluctuations in the water table, undisturbed by pumping, are measured. These data allow scientists to assess both short-term and long-term trends in the water table. This information is useful for understanding the effects of climate on Illinois' hydrologic cycle.

To view a graph of all recorded water level data for an individual well select the 'All Data' link. To view a graph of recorded water level data for a user-defined period of time: 1) Enter the desired date range into the begin and end date text boxes 2) Press the 'Change' button to set the new date range and 3) View the dynamically generated graph by selecting the 'Range' link next to the desired well.
